Chen Rongkai, deputy governor of Fujian province, was born in April 1955 in Minhou county, Fujian, and joined the Communist Party in March 1985. He graduated from Xiamen University with a master’s degree in finance, and is a senior accountant.

Chen was previously director of the Fujian finance budget department and local tax bureau and price bureau. He was also mayor and deputy secretary of the city of Ningde in Fujian, and he was appointed deputy governor of Fujian in December 2011.
