Fuzhou will host the China Open Badminton Championships four times, from 2014 to 2017, it was jointly announced on June 2 by the Table Tennis and Badminton Management Center and the Fuzhou government.

China Open is coming back to Fujian after 28 years. This year, the game will be held Nov 11 to 16 at the nearly completed Fuzhou Straits Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, with the total prize money increased to $700,000.

China Open Badminton Championships started in Fuzhou in 1986, and is one of the five world–class badminton games, along with Malaysian Open, All-England Open, Indonesia Open and Denmark Open.

“Fuzhou has a close relationship with badminton. China Open in Fuzhou will not only push forward national activities, but also gain more popularity for the city,” said Mayor Yang Yimin.
