Fujian?province saw 13.8 million people travelling, Feb 4 to 10, the first week of this year's Spring Festival travel rush, or chunyun, authorities said.

The roads, highways, and railways,?have carried?13.3 million, and the remainder, 520,000, travelled by water.

Cross-Straits transportation went smoothly, with the routes from the cities of Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou to Taiwan’s Matsu and Kinmen islands making 318 voyages, with 327,000 people. Another 12 direct connections to Taiwan handled 1,607 passengers.

With Spring Festival approaching – on Feb 19 this year – the traffic flow in Fujian is expected to grow, with its roads likely to deal with 1.95 million, on Feb 12 alone. Travelers are advised to make good travel plans and book tickets well ahead.
