A fire drill was held on a ship between Pingtan and Taiwan on June 17, reported local news portal ptnet.cn.

It is the first fire drill on the Haixia since it was launched four years ago.

Firefighters ran through fire simulation, crowd evacuation and rescue of trapped passengers in the three-hour drill on the afternoon.

The drill has enhanced safety on the ship, improved the crews’ firefighting skills and raised firefighters’ experience in ship fire accidents, said Xiao Xin, captain of the local fire brigade.
