Pingtan county in Fujian province has intensified its crackdown on illegal construction and officials identified a total of 58 illegal buildings in January, local authorities said on Jan 27.

Pingtan's campaign concerning illegal buildings started on Sept 9 last year, and has focused on a total area of 16,668 square meters of illegal buildings, accounting for 34.2 percent of total unlicensed structures.

The local authorities said they had ordered 99.5 percent of illegal buildings in the urban area to comply with government regulations.
