Dunhuang city to become a China international characteristic tourism destination

Dunhuang city in Gansu province, along with 29 other cities countrywide, entered the list of tourism destinations that build international characteristics, released by the National Tourism Administration.

Dunhuang is the only city in Gansu on the list.

The construction of international characteristic tourism destinations will theoretically take two years. After that time, the National Tourism Administration will send experts to check the construction projects and grant the title to the qualified cities.

Entering the list provides more opportunities for Dunhuang city; it will hold the First Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo in August.

The city is expected to promote tourism, comprehensive service and its brand recognition through focusing on tourism content and advanced regional collaboration, said the authority.
