An opening ceremony for Beihai-Guiyang Port, named after Beihai in Guangxi and Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou, took place in Beihai, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, last Friday.
The port, which reflects the demand of deepening cooperation and opening-up of the two regions, aims to build a convenient logistics passage for the development and benefit of the two cities.
"Guiyang and Beihai are both very important cities in the Pan-Pearl River region. There is big cooperative potential in import and export trading in terms of industrial foundation and resources," said Chen Shaorong, deputy mayor of Guiyang.
Chen said that the cooperative agreement signed should be implemented strictly to build Beihai-Guiyang Port as a grand passage characterized by the lowest cost, easiest clearance and most efficient services towards the ASEAN and the world.
"We aim to build Beihai-Guiyang Port as a demonstration zone of export-oriented economic cooperation," said Chen Weixiang, deputy mayor of Beihai city.
At the opening ceremony, agreements involving the Guiyang Free Trade Zone and Beihai Export Processing Zone as well as the transportation departments of Guiyang and Beihai were signed.
