A calligrapher writes Spring Festival couplets in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Jan 2. The activity, launched by CCTV (China Central Television), is currently in its fourth session and has invited more than 10 famous calligraphers from the China Calligraphers Association, Inner Mongolia Calligraphers Association and Baotou Calligraphers Association. Spring Festival couplets, or chunlian, are one of the most important customs when celebrating Spring Festival. High-speed train debuts in Inner Mongolia
A bullet train departed Hohhot East Railway Station for Ulanqab marking the start of high-speed rail services using Inner Mongolia’s first newly-laid high-speed railway on Aug 3.
