West China is seeking new breakthroughs in scientific, technological and financial development, at the 2016 West China Science, Technology and Finance Forum, held in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Baotou Daily reported on Aug 31.

Representatives from government and investment institutions attended the forum under a theme of innovation, along with experts from the industry. The opportunities and challenges West China faces in economic development, along with the integration of technological innovation and financial innovation in West China, were discussed during the forum.

Zhang Jianzhong, vice mayor of Baotou, said at the forum that Baotou seeks scientific, technological and financial innovation, in order to push forward the transformation and upgrading of its industry. It is expected that Baotou will be built into a regional innovation and financial center.
