The Spring Festival travel rush, known as chunyun in Chinese, started from Feb 2 and ended on March 15 this year. Suzhou, southeast of Jiangsu province, saw 20.6 million people coming and leaving during the 40-day period, 8 percent more than a year before, according to the local travel rush bureau.

During the period, 17.18 million people in Suzhou traveled by bus, up 8.11 percent and 3.42 million traveled by train, up 10.3 percent. Local long-haul buses made more than 181,600 trips, to transport more than 3.7 million people, 21.57 percent of the total passenger who traveled by bus.
