The fields of rapeseed plants near the city of Ji'an, Jilin province, the largest area in the Northeast, are part of a golden tourist route along the Yalu River which forms the boundary with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a scenic area with convenient transportation to many major cities in the region.

The plants flower in the latter half of June and on into mid-July, making the zone a good place for sightseeing, having a fine meal and staying in a comfortable hotel, as well as enjoying a variety of recreational activities.

The area is developing ecological, rural, agricultural, and cultural tours to make full use of the Yalu River and there are many spots with both Oriental and western characteristics, such as wooden bridges, small streams, colorful pavement, pavilions, windmills, gardens, and recreational sites, even a slimming workshop.
