Qingdao plans to develop eight marine fishery projects in the next five to six years, according to Qingdao marine fishery bureau.

The eight projects encompass more than 30 programs. They include fishery resources conservation, fishery engineering and fisherman training.

The city also plans to build more than 300 ports and five artificial reefs by 2015.

Marine fisheries are an important part of the Shandong blue economic zone.
