The construction of Qingdao’s subway Line 2 is set to begin in 2012 after its feasibility study report was recently approved by 19 experts nationwide.

According to experts, on its completion in 2016, Line 2 will effectively relieve pressure on the city’s traffic, as well as being of obvious environmental benefits.

The line’s total length will be 29.7 kilometers with 27 stops. It is designed to pass through four districts and will share two stops with Line 3.

At present, preparatory work for construction of the line has been launched.
