Shanxi attracted 901 projects during the first half of 2017 with investment of 174.97 billion yuan ($25.98 billion), according to a press conference held by Shanxi Department of Commerce on July 25.
There are 351 projects related to strategic emerging industries like new energy and the internet of things, which accounts for 39 percent of the total number of contracted projects, with 189 projects already underway.
The value of foreign trade between Shanxi and the European Union amounted to 10.81 billion yuan, representing year-on-year growth of 16.9 percent. The volume of imports and exports between Shanxi and the United States reached 7.10 billion yuan, up 48.4 percent. As for foreign trade with Japan, the volume amounted to 3.48 billion yuan, an increase of 6.6 percent year-on-year.
