A lantern exhibition and workshop at Mountain Taishan proved popular with visitors on Feb 22 as guests sought to celebrate this year's Lantern Festival with a visit to the scenic spot in Tai'an city, Shandong province.

The exhibition had handmade lanterns of all shapes and sizes on display, many themed with the Year of the Monkey designs. Other lantern designs included those made of paper or cloth; some were fashioned into the shape of popular cartoon characters and some were styled like traditional palace lanterns.

Over a two-day period the workshop sold more than 1,000 lanterns, according to the Tai'an Daily.
