A delegation of business leaders and government officials from the Polish city of Swietochlowice visited Tai'an on Sept 6 to discuss deepening economic and trade links with the city in East China's Shandong province.

The delegation, led by David Kostempski, mayor of Swietochlowice, was invited to attend this year's International Mount Tai Climbing Festival and the Tai'an Fair for Investment and Cooperation, which opened on the 6th and will last for a week.

Wang Yunpeng, Party secretary of Tai'an, welcomed the delegation and expressed his thanks for its attendance of the annual festival.

Wang said that with joint efforts, the two sides have developed a profound friendship and mutual cooperation in various fields that have made gratifying progress and yielded concrete results since Tai'an and Swietochlowice established sister-city relations in 2012.

Wang detailed that Swietochlowice launched Chinese classes last year and this year a Tai'an government delegation attended the Polish city's annual festival and signed a cooperation agreement on education.

Wang expressed the belief that Tai'an and Swietochlowice's friendly relations and cooperation would develop even further in the future.

Tai'an is willing to work with Swietochlowice to expand trade and economic cooperation to more areas and upgrade it to a higher level to create even greater benefits for people in the two cities, according to Wang.

Kostempski voiced his congratulations on Tai'an's great achievements in economic and social development. He said he hoped that both sides would further advance exchanges in the areas of economy and trade, education and culture and deepen their mutually beneficial cooperation.
