A spokesman with the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) said drugstores should not misinterpret the regulation of the administration and cause inconvenience to the general public by stopping selling medicines that were tagged with "athletes cautious".

The administration had ordered since March that all pharmaceutical plants should print the warning on the packages of medicines that contain stimulants so as to prevent athletes from mistakenly using banned drugs during the Games.

Starting from April, the administration in cooperation with public security and health departments have inspected drug makers and sellers for illegal production and selling of stimulants.

Sales of protein assimilation preparations, with the exception of insulin, and sales of peptide hormones are banned in the country.

The departments have also vowed in a circular to beef up the anti-doping campaign during the Olympics that opens on August 8.
