Nepali PM congratulates President Hu on Olympic flame atop Mt. Qomolangma

KATHMANDU -- Nepali Prime Girija Prasad Koirala Thursday sent a congratulation letter to Chinese President Hu Jintao, on the Beijing Olympic flame reaching the top of Mt. Qomolangma.

Chinese ambassador Zheng Xianglin Thursday in Nepali capital Kathmandu visited Prime Minister Koirala, conveying an oral message from Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

In the oral message, Premier Wen said, the Beijing Olympic flame has reached the top of Mt. Qomolangma with full success. Premier Wen is grateful to the Nepali government, army and related authorities for the support and assistance extended.

Premier Wen said, the thorough arrangements and efforts made on the Nepali side for Olympic flame safely summitting the world's highest peak, reflect the friendship in adversity and that of cordial mutual help and sincere cooperation.

Premier Wen said, China, hand in hand with Nepal, would like to continuously promote the friendly neighborly partnership of generations.

Prime Minister Koirala warmly congratulated successful summiting Mt. Sagarmatha (Mt. Qomolangma) of the Olympic flame.

Prime Minster Koirala said, Nepal and China shared traditional friendly relationship. Nepal is glad to see the Olympic flame's successful atop the world's highest peak, which reflects the friendship between Nepal and China.

Prime Minister Koirala believed that the bilateral relationship will be enhanced in the future.

Prime Minister Koirala also conveyed one congratulation letter to Chinese President Hu Jintao.

"On behalf of the government and people of Nepal and on my own, I have great pleasure to extend my warm and hearty congratulations to you and to the people and government of the People's Republic of China on the happy occasion of the Olympic flame Beijing successfully carried to the summit of the Sagarmatha (Qomolangma), today," Koirala said in the letter, "the Olympic games have always been the symbol of peace, understanding and solidaity, through the display of fine sportsmanship by the most competent athletes of the world."

"I hope the games that are soon being held in your great country will be yet another occasion to spread the message of global peace and solidarity across the world," Prime Minister Koirala said, "At this happy occasion, I would also like to wish for the grand success of the Beijing Summer Olympic Games 2008. Please accept, excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."

The Beijing Olympic flame reached the top of Mt. Qomolangma at 9: 18 am Beijing time Thursday.
