Wei Shaoxian, 59, is a farmer from Handan, Hebei province. Wei began to collect "red classics", or movies praising Chinese people's revolutionary spirit and patriotism during the wars of national independence and liberation. He has collected more than 5,000 such movies and documentaries nationwide, 500 of which are rare.

In order to deepen people's understanding of history and cherishing today, Wei has been voluntarily showing movies to villagers since 2005. He has put on more than 3,000 shows for some 100,000 viewers in rural areas of a dozen provinces and cities, including Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. He said he is not doing this to entertain himself or make money, but to promote the patriotic and heroic spirit embeded in the movies.
