Guided by the principles of circular economy and ecology, the petrochemical industry will include such operations as oil refining and the production of synthetic resin and fibers, rubber and plastics as well as organic ingredients and fine chemicals.

The Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone, the Dagang area and the Tianjin Harbor Economic Area will be the major locations for petrochemical projects. It has been projected that the total value of the industry will reach from 450 billion yuan to 500 billion yuan by 2015, or about 19 percent of Binhai New Area’s total economic volume.
