As transportation is the foundation for industrial integration, constructing transport infrastructure in the region around Wuxi will be a crucial task in the next five years.

A freeway will be built connecting Changzhou, Wuxi and Suzhou. Jiangyin and Yixing, two county-level cities in Wuxi, will accelerate efforts to improve their traffic infrastructure to help the two cities integrate their economies. A number of projects, including the construction of several intercity railways, the renovation of the grand canal, and the widening of the Wuxi-Yixing freeway are already underway.
