China's first commercial rocket set for June launch

The first assembly of the OS-X rocket, designed and produced by the BDA-based company One Space, was held in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) on April 11, marking new progress in self-developed commercial rockets in China, according to local media.
The activity generally consisted of three processes: rocket interior assembly, indoor-outdoor reshipment, and off-site rocket erection.
During the exercise, launch staff were able to practice skills learnt in training by joining the cabin sections of the rocket together indoors, before transferring the rocket outdoors using the independently developed equipment. Finally, the rocket was maneuvered into a launch position.
Established in August 2015, One Space is the first private company in China that has "carrier rockets and other spacecraft" printed on its business license. It focuses on the development, design and final assembly of low-cost small vehicles. At this point, the company has raised 500 million yuan ($79.22 million) in financing rounds. The funds raised are mainly used for the research and development of OS-X series rockets and OS-M series rocket products, private commercial aerospace upstream and downstream industry layouts, and the company’s assembly capacity development.
The rocket is scheduled to be launched in June.
