PARIS -- France's presidential palace says President Nicolas Sarkozy and US President Barack Obama agree on the need for "ambitious goals" and "concrete results" at next week's summit on the global financial crisis.

The Elysee Palace says the leaders spoke by phone about how the G-20 summit in London should define new international financial rules, increase economic governance and support global demand.

The palace also said in a statement Wednesday that Sarkozy and Obama plan a bilateral meeting at a NATO summit in Strasbourg, France and Kehl, Germany on April 3-4.

The April 2 London summit brings together the Group of 20 countries, rich nations and important developing ones that together account for more than 80 percent of the world economy.
