Sudan denies role of foreign party in arms production

(Xinhua) Updated: 2012-10-30 10:31

KHARTOUM - Sudan's Foreign Ministry said Monday the Sudanese arms manufacturing has no relationship with any foreign party, renewing its condemnation of Israel over the recent attack against Al-Yarmouk arms factory in Khartoum.

"Khartoum denies any link for Sudan's military manufacturing with any foreign party," said Al-Obaid Ahmed Mirrawih, Sudanese Foreign Ministry spokesman, in a statement Monday.

Israel was trying desperately to pass misleading information via different sources to justify its heinous act, including its claims of a relationship between the production of Al-Yarmouk arms factory complex and Iran and Syria, the Palestinian Hamas movement and Hezbollah in Lebanon, noted Mirrawih.

"Iran does not need weapons produced in Sudan, either for itself or for its allies," said the spokesman.

Meanwhile, he renewed the Sudanese Foreign Ministry's condemnation of Israel over the recent attack against Al-Yarmouk arms factory.

An airstrike targeted Al-Yarmouk arms factory complex in Khartoum last week, killing two people and injuring another. Khartoum accused Israel of being behind the bombardment of the complex, but Israel remained mum on the incident.
