Iran ready for nuclear talks with P5+1

(Xinhua) Updated: 2013-01-11 10:28

TEHRAN - Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Thursday that Iran is prepared for "constructive and logical" talks with the P5+1 (Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany), the state IRIB TV reported.

In order for the talks to be constructive and positive, adopting a logical approach and respecting the rights of the countries is a must, Mehmanparast told IRIB.

About the upcoming talks between Iran and the P5+1, he said the time and venue for the talks have not been decided and negotiations are underway for finalizing the issue, he added.

Iran and the P5+1 have held several rounds of talks over the former's controversial nuclear program, but no agreement has been reached so far. Both sides are currently in contact to prepare the grounds for another round of meeting.

Iranian officials have also said that lifting sanctions is a primary step for the success of Iran's future nuclear talks with the P5+1. Iran has also reiterated that its right of nuclear enrichment for civilian ends should be recognized by the world powers.
