Tap water from 23 water purification plants nationwide, including four in the capital city of Seoul, contained no radiation when examined on April 2, the state-led Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) said in a press release.

Minuscule levels of radioactive iodine and cesium were detected in the atmosphere last week, but the KINS has repeatedly said the minute amounts pose no risks to human health.

Similar tests on tap water will be regularly conducted twice a week and the result will be made public, the KINS said. Seawater and marine products will also be subject to radiation checks.
