BEIJING - Former Chinese football player Nan Fang has been detained by police for drunk driving, the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau said on Monday.
The 45-year-old was stopped by police in central Beijing at about 4:00 am on April 4, and was detained after tests revealed him to be more than 10 times over China's legal drink driving limit. His case is currently being processed.
Nan joined Beijing Guoan in 1995, playing in a variety of positions until his retirement from playing at the end of 2004. Nan subsequently entered the media industry and featured as a commentator on Beijing television, though it is thought that his future career prospects may suffer due to his detention.
