Before western medicine had entered China in late 19th century, Chinese traditional medicine had been there for thousands of years, helping people, relief their pain and suffering, and curing diseases. So I could argue that by simply surviving all these years, there must be something that works. There also quite a few modern medicine that's based on traditional formula, like 云南白藥,牛黃解毒片 and etc.

However, a lot of people approach traditional Chinese medicine in a very wrong way, and because of this relatively modern and mass media approach, traditional medicine had lost a lot of their advantages.
