Second test confirms virus on shrimp packages
The packaging of frozen shrimp imported from Ecuador tested positive for coronavirus a second time in Wuhu, Anhui province, disease control authorities announced on Wednesday.
The local disease control center was alerted by a positive sample taken from the packaging of a shrimp product on Monday.
The shrimp, frozen and imported from Ecuador, was found in an urban restaurant in Wuhu, according to the center, which conducted another test of the sample on Tuesday and got the same result.
After arriving at the restaurant, the shrimp was stored in refrigerators, the announcement said.
Restaurant employees and those at companies related to the same batch of products have all tested negative for the virus. The restaurant and its dormitories for employees had been disinfected by Wednesday, it said.
People who touched the sample have been placed under medical observation.
