The Shanghai-based Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University launched a specialized AI model designed to enhance women's healthcare on Friday, ahead of the International Women's Day, which fell on Sunday this year.

Based on this model, an AI patient assistant has completed the first generative AI registration in the medical services sector in the city.

According to the hospital, the AI patient assistant supports patients through various stages, including examination report interpretation, guidance to seek medical treatment, post-operative recovery, and long-term follow-up. It not only offers precise and efficient assistance, but also possesses emotional perception capabilities, outperforming general AI models.

Developed in collaboration with Alibaba Cloud, this innovative model represents major breakthroughs in restructuring knowledge expression, clinical reasoning mechanisms, and process integration methods. Such advancements address the challenges of data inconsistency and insufficient specialization in obstetrics and gynecology AI applications, executives from the hospital said.

Additionally, they said the model will be well adaptable for use in other medical institutions and primary maternal and child healthcare settings. Furthermore, it provides interfaces for diverse future applications in research institutes and enterprises, paving the way for broader adoption across various sectors.
