Time and love
The festival's opening night was exactly seven weeks away when the restrictions on venues came into effect. This was problematic because — even were venues to reopen before Feb 25 — ensemble performers could now no longer rehearse together. This affected the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HKPhil), originally scheduled to deliver tonight's opening concert.
With HKPhil in a bind, HKAF's organizers opted to move up the Asian premiere of Romeo and Juliet, the Paris Opera Ballet's (POB) 2021 film, by two weeks. Instead of having to buy a ticket for the in-venue screening, "festivalgoers" can now watch the film online for free until March 4.
