Shanghai reported one locally transmitted asymptomatic COVID-19 case outside the quarantine zone on Tuesday.

The infected case was 38-year-old male who lived in Luojing township, Baoshan district. The compound of his residence, 188 Pan Xin Road, has been marked as a high-risk area.

By 4 pm, a total of 151 close contacts and 845 secondary contacts have been identified and quarantined, and the nucleic acid testing results of more than 284,000 people with exposure risk came negative.

Meng Qingyuan, vice-governor of Baoshan, said the infected person took five nucleic acid tests in seven days prior to today, and he was screened out by a community testing.

Meng said the district has demarcated several areas as medium-risk zones because many of the new infections found in the district since July 4 were truck drivers and delivery people.

The operation of office buildings, supermarkets and stores in those areas have been suspended.

"We have asked subdistrict governments to guarantee the livelihood of residents, taking care of vulnerable groups, such as the aged, the disabled, the pregnant and those in need of hemodialysis treatment," Meng said.
