Wang Lixia, chairwoman of the Inner Mongolia autonomous regional government, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party disciplines and national laws, China's top anti-corruption watchdogs said on Friday.

The decision was disclosed by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision online. No other details were provided.

Public available information shows that Wang, 61, a native of Liaoning province, started her career in September 1985 and joined the Party in December 1992. Before she went to the Inner Mongolia to work in October 2016, she had served in various positions in Shaanxi province, including as head of the Shaanxi statistics department, mayor of Tongchuan and deputy governor of Shaanxi.

She became the deputy Party secretary of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region and chairwoman of the regional government in September 2021.
