A senior official of the Communist Party of China has urged efforts to promote the development of cultural undertakings and industries and to strive to enhance the appeal and influence of Chinese civilization.

Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark at a meeting held on Monday in Beijing, which was attended by the country's publicity officials.

Cai called for thoroughly implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and stressed the need to focus on deepening the study and publicity of the Party's innovative theories, enhancing the capacity to guide mainstream public opinion and promoting and practicing core socialist values.

These efforts, he said, aim to provide a solid ideological guarantee, strong spiritual strength and favorable cultural conditions for building China into a strong country and advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through the Chinese path to modernization.

Cai underscored the importance of deepening reform of cultural institutions and mechanisms, improving the effectiveness of cyberspace governance and strengthening international communication capabilities.

He also called for efforts to uphold and strengthen the Party's overall leadership to provide a strong political guarantee for opening up new prospects in work related to public communication and culture.

Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, outlined key tasks, including advancing the systematic reform of mainstream media, fostering a love of reading among the public and strengthening the systematic protection of cultural heritage.
