Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, extended congratulations on Thursday to Thongloun Sisoulith on his reelection as general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

In a congratulatory message, Xi expressed his hope that under the strong leadership of the central committee with Thongloun at its core, the LPRP and the Lao people will remain united and continue their efforts to achieve the goals set forth by the 12th LPRP National Congress, open up new horizons for the socialist cause in Laos, and advance with resolve toward the party's centenary goal in 2055.

Highlighting China and Laos as friendly socialist neighbors, Xi pointed out that in recent years and through their joint efforts, China-Laos relations have entered the best period in history, yielding a series of fruitful outcomes.

Amid the new landscape featuring deep interplay between regional dynamics and global transformations, Xi said he looks forward to working with Thongloun to strengthen strategic guidance for the development of China-Laos relations and deepen exchanges of experiences in party governance and state management.

Xi called for efforts to expand practical cooperation in various fields to advance the building of the China-Laos community with a shared future toward a high-standard, high-quality and high-level goal.

This will better benefit the two peoples and better serve the development of the two countries' socialist causes, helping to make new contributions to promoting peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world, he added.

The 12th National Congress of the LPRP was held in Vientiane, the Lao capital, from Tuesday to Thursday. Thongloun was reelected general secretary of the LPRP Central Committee at the first meeting of the 12th LPRP Central Committee on Thursday.
