Vice-premier urges safe, smooth, efficient Spring Festival travel rush
BEIJING -- Chinese Vice-Premier He Lifeng on Monday called for all-out efforts to ensure a safe, smooth and efficient Spring Festival travel rush.
He, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection of transport hubs in Beijing and Tianjin on the first day of the 2026 Spring Festival travel rush.
The annual Spring Festival travel rush -- the world's largest human migration -- places immense pressure on China's transportation network.
The vice-premier urged transportation authorities to fully and meticulously implement all measures to safeguard travel services. He stressed the need to enhance monitoring, early warning, and response to extreme weather and geological disasters.
He also called for consistent care and support for frontline transportation workers throughout the 40-day travel rush.
