The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation honored 54 Chinese scientists at an awards ceremony in Beijing on Monday, recognizing their remarkable contributions to the advancement of science and technology.

Among the awardees, 32 individuals received the Science and Technology Progress Awards for groundbreaking discoveries in fields such as physics and astronomy, life sciences and medicine, energy security, and engineering technology. The other 22 were presented with the Science and Technology Innovation Awards.

The Science and Technology Innovation Awards are divided into three categories: youth innovation award, industry innovation award, and regional innovation award.

The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation was established in 1994 by four patriotic Hong Kong financiers — Ho Sin Hang, Leung Kau-Kui, Ho Tim, and Lee Quo-Wei — to honor outstanding Chinese scientists.

Over the past 31 years, the foundation has awarded 1,692 outstanding scientists, establishing itself as a successful example of a science and technology award established by social forces, and contributing to stimulating China's scientific and technological development while fostering independent innovation talent.
