Road accident in Northeast China kills 5, injures 2

DALIAN -- Five people were killed and two others injured in a traffic accident in Dalian's Jinpu New Area on Tuesday morning, according to a statement from local traffic police.
The accident occurred at 6:38 am at an intersection in the area's Qidingshan subdistrict. A small passenger car carrying six people made a left turn and collided with an oncoming truck.
Police have confirmed that all five of the car's passengers died at the scene. The drivers of both vehicles sustained injuries and were promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. A preliminary investigation has ruled out the influence of alcohol or drugs for both drivers.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
