Charles Bowman, the former Lord Mayor of London, representing Lady Mayor Dame Susan Langley, extended Chinese New Year greetings to the audience and shared his understanding of the Year of the Horse as a symbol of energy, vitality, and boldness, reflecting a reinvigorated China-UK relationship following the prime minister's recent visit to China, the first by a UK prime minister in eight years.
Bowman said the concert brought together talented musicians from across continents, time zones, and languages to speak with one voice through music, echoing the words of Confucius: "Is it not a joy to have friends come from afar?"
