Spring Festival concert in London bridges cultures
At the conclusion of the concert, Chinese violinist Lyu Siqing, president of the Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, shared the stage with students from the two schools in a performance of Presto from Summer, The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, bringing the evening to its climax.
As a world-renowned violinist, Lyu was selected by Yehudi Menuhin to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School in the UK when he was 11 years old.
In 1987, he became the first Asian violinist to win first prize at the Paganini Competition.
In 2021, he started serving as the president of the Yehudi Menuhin School in Qingdao.
In a speech before the concert, Lyu said the event was a special testimony to the bond between the two schools.
"For two consecutive years, students and faculty from both schools have shared this stage, creating a unique musical dialogue that transcends borders," he said.
Lyu highlighted the remarkable growth of the Qingdao campus in a short period of time, describing it as a beacon of musical excellence in China and beyond.
