Tang Dezhi, former vice-chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from public office for serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, the country's top anti-graft authorities announced on Monday.

The decision followed an investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision. Authorities confiscated his illegal gains. His suspected criminal case has been transferred to procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution, and related assets have been handed over.

According to the statement, Tang failed to fully implement major decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee, neglected his responsibility to enforce strict Party governance, and accepted banquets that could affect the impartial performance of his duties.

Investigators also found that Tang sought benefits for others in cadre selection and appointment, failed to truthfully explain issues during organizational inquiries, accepted gifts and money, interfered in disciplinary and law enforcement activities, and engaged in power-for-money transactions involving relatives. He used his positions to seek profits for others in project contracting and business operations in exchange for huge illicit gains.

Tang, 60, began working in 1985 and joined the CPC in 1995. He spent his career in Guizhou, holding key posts including secretary-general of the Guizhou provincial government and Party chief of Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture. He became vice chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the CPPCC in 2023 and was placed under investigation in August 2025.
