I also want to give a special "Nods" to Japan for stepping up and sending their rescue team to their better-half in their terrible time of need that is very generous of them.

In this tragic hour of horrendous loss in human lives, our words fail us in consoling those who are victims of the natural disaster and tragedy. But one bright ray of light shines through. China has Premier Wen who is a source of comfort, inspiration and encouragement for all the hapless and helpless folks struck by this force majeure. I applaud the Chinese government at all levels for what they are doing for the earthquake victims.However, I would like to make 4 suggestions for the future:
1. From this moment forward the building codes for the individual farm houses and the buildings (schools, apartments, etc.) in the villages must meet stricter requirements. I understand that the skyscrapers in the large cities already are up to code after year 2000, but the small buildings in the rural areas should meet stricter requirements as well.
2. During the year, life saving information has to be provided and practice drills have to be held as for what to do during and after a natural disaster with city residents and with rural residents.
3. In the rural areas volunteer force of fire/rescue should be created so that local rescue could initially start saving lives immediately after a disaster.
4. Each household MUST be advised to have a basic first aid kit available.
To the OVERSEAS Chinese I MUST urge you all to donate cash to the aid relief agencies in CHINA. That is the least we could do for our ancestral homeland.
To those non-Chinese who are helping and/or have offered help to CHINA I want to say THANK YOU.
To the current Japanese government and to South Korea who have offered generous help I want to say XIE XIE to our Asian cousins.
To the current Australian government I want to say the offer of assistance to a friend in need is indeed from a true friend.
贊賞中國政府 提出四點建議
我贊賞中國政府為地震災民所做的各項工作。不過我希望對中國未來抗震措施提出四點建議：
1. 今后民用住房和學校公寓等建筑物必須達到嚴格的質量標準。我知道大城市的摩天大樓在2000年后都超過了質量規范要求，但是農村地區的小型建筑也應該有更嚴格的質量標準。
2. 政府應該大力宣傳災害救生信息，進行救災演習，讓城市和鄉村民眾了解在災害中和災害發生后應該怎么做。
3. 應該在農村地區建立消防員或救生員志愿者組織，以便災害發生后立即開展救援行動。
4. 必須建議每個家庭有一個基本的急救箱。
我呼吁所有海外華人為中國救災機構捐款，這是我們能為祖國能做的最基本的事。
