The 2016 China (Zhangjiagang) Yangtze River Culture and Art Festival lowered its curtain on Nov 16 at Zhangjiagang's Poly Grand Theater.
A symposium aiming to promote the profound culture of the regions along the Yangtze River and research into these historical areas was held at the Xinyuan Hotel in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province on Nov 5.
Children in Zhangjiagang excitedly flocked to the Cultural Center Theater in Fenghuang town on Nov 13 to watch the recording of a special episode of Hand in Hand, a popular kids' TV broadcast by China's national network CCTV.
Zhangjiagang witnessed one of soccer's great David-and-Goliath stories on Nov 13, as a team of local 12-year-olds beat a line-up of CCTV's most famous faces in a penalty shoot-out after an epic 10-10 draw.
The 2016 Cross-Straits (Zhangjiagang) Agriculture Expo opened from Nov 18 to 21 at the port city's stadium, and attracted some 80,000 visitors.
The smash-hit Wuxi Opera Jade Dragonfly, one of the jewels of Chinese opera, was staged at the Poly Grand Theater in Zhangjiagang on Nov 13.
The 2016 Yangtze River Culture and Art Festival commenced in Zhangjiagang on Oct 31, with a staging of the newly adapted Shanghai Opera, Captain Deng Shichang.
