Shabby buildings discovered in Shanxi

In a previous report, two balconies fell off a building in Shenyang. Here, a cluster of newly-built residential buildings in Taiyan, Shanxi province were found to be built with large quantities of plastic foam, CCTV's official Weibo account reported on Thursday.

The buildings were said to be made with such poor material for heat insulation that future property values will be reduced. Experts also said such shoddy material is easily combustible, which increases the risk of fire hazards.

Hundreds of residents signed a petition against the construction company.
