Delivering a speech at South Korea's Yonsei University after meeting with South Korean president Park Geun-hye, Biden added the US is devoting to promoting cooperation rather than competition with China.

All US Asian allies, especially Japan and South Korea, along with the US should be able to improve relationship and cooperation with one another and try to get ?relationship with China right in order to fight against the emerging challenges like maritime security, non-proliferation in this region, Biden noted.

"We are committed to sustain a positive, cooperative US- Chinese relationship," said Biden. "It is not only in our interest, it is in the interests of the region and the world."

Biden reaffirmed US Asia-rebalancing strategy, saying the US commitment to its strategic shift to Asia never changes, including economy, diplomacy and others.

Biden said he and Park agreed to promote close cooperation among Seoul, Tokyo and Washington, although ties between South Korea and Japan has been strained over disputed islands and wartime sex slaves.

He also urged all the countries involved in the East and South China Sea dispute to ?reduce the risk of conflicts and avoid possibilities of miscalculation.

Meanwhile, Biden reconfirmed that the US will not accept and tolerate a nuclear-armed Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

He said the US is prepared to go back to the six-party talks when the DPRK demonstrates its full commitment to complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization.

Biden arrived in Seoul on Thursday night on the last leg of his tour to Japan, China and South Korea. He will then pay a visit to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on Saturday, wrapping up his tour to the three Asian countries.
