Former Inner Mongolia Party chief under investigation

Sun Shaocheng, the former Party secretary of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is under investigation for suspected severe violations of Party disciplines and national laws, according to the country's top anti-corruption watchdogs.

The investigation was announced online by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision on Thursday, with no further details disclosed.

Public information reveals that Sun, 65, a native of Shandong province, began his career in July 1984 and joined the Party in May 1986. He worked for the Ministry of Civil Affairs for several years and became vice-minister in 2009. In 2012, he served as deputy governor of Shandong. In 2014, he moved to Shanxi province and became its deputy governor in 2016. Later, he worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.

In April 2022, he became Party secretary of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region. In October 2025, he was named deputy head of the 14th National People's Congress Social Development Affairs Committee.
