All-around support will be provided to Shanghai in the coming years to help build China's commercial hub into a global center for vessels' green energy bunkering and trading by 2030, according to official sources.

The targets are part of the action plan issued jointly by 10 central government departments, including the Ministry of Transport, according to the official website of the ministry.

Specifically, the Shanghai Port is going to achieve a capacity of bonded liquefied natural gas bunkering of 1 million cubic meters by 2030, along with its capability of bunkering methanol and biofuels reaching the 1 million ton mark.

The plan also outlined key tasks centering on seven areas, including supply, service models, international standards and safety.

The action plan, a key measure in supporting Shanghai's development into a global shipping hub, also underscores China's efforts to take a leading role in the green and low-carbon transformation of the global shipping industry, said a report on the official WeChat account of Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission.
