Singapore Airlines to operate daily flights to Hangzhou
Starting in June, a new daily round-trip service between Hangzhou and Singapore operated by Singapore Airlines will be launched, according to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.
Previously served by four carriers — Loong Air, China Eastern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, and Scoot — the route has become a key air link between the Yangtze River Delta and Southeast Asia. This year, passenger traffic reached 85,000, up 11.9 percent year-on-year, ranking second among the airport's international routes.
Singapore Airlines' entry is expected to enhance transit efficiency by leveraging its global network. As of March 22, the airport handled 230,300 transit passengers, including 52,600 international travelers, supported by an expanding network linking intercontinental destinations with Asian hubs such as Seoul, Tokyo and Bangkok.
To improve services, the airport has introduced a smart transit platform.
"Through this system, we have enabled remote security and customs inspections, entrusted handling of irregular baggage, and intelligent transfer operations," Zhao Yijing, transit business manager of the airport's ground service department, said.
With the new service, weekly flights between Hangzhou and Singapore will increase to 26, further strengthening connectivity. The route will be operated by an Airbus A350-900, with the inaugural flight departing Singapore on June 1.
