A conference on tourism development opened Monday in the popular travel destination of Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province.
The 20th Guizhou Tourism Development Conference spotlighted the integration of culture, tourism, sports, and wellness and showcased new tourism products, activities, and travel experiences across the province.
At the opening ceremony, Guizhou Governor Li Bingjun discussed wellness travel's emerging popularity in tourism and lifestyle, saying that Guizhou would adapt to the trend. He highlighted the province's natural advantages, those being cool summers, scenic landscapes, diverse cuisine, and local culture.
Guiyang also unveiled 10 new scenic spots, including historic towns and popular social media attractions. Chosen through public voting and expert review, the sites are expected to become new tourism landmarks for the city.
The conference attracted representatives from major domestic tourism and cultural companies, including Wanda Group and H World Group, as well as industry associations and international organizations.
Amap Chairman Liu Zhenfei said the company plans to expand the use of AI in tourism and cultural settings, strengthen the integration of lifestyle services, transportation, and tourism, and help raise the technological profile of Guizhou's tourism sector.
