World Conference on Sinology brainstorms on AI


Sinologists and younger-generation scholars from different countries gathered in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, where the ninth World Conference on Sinology was unveiled on Friday.
The two-day discussions, under the theme of "Understanding China: Sinologies in the Age of Artificial Intelligence", are to inspire insightful views on the roles of technological revolution, such as AI, to expand the frontiers of Chinese studies, and empower the application of Chinese wisdom in the global context.
The conference is jointly hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, of Ministry of Education, and Renmin University of China.
Zhang Donggang, chair of university council of Renmin University of China, says Sinology is cross disciplinary and cross culture, and this year's session addresses the needs in the changing social and technological contexts, to introduce new perspectives and develop new frontiers of Sinology.
The World Conference on Sinology was first held in 2007.
The eighth session was held in Suzhou, Jiangsu province of East China, under the theme of "Understanding China: Connected Past and Shared Future".
